| What do you do with a three year old????? |
What do you do wit h a three-year old? Wear washables and cover all the furniture in plastic. Get yourself a good pair of shoes. You will be playing defense 24 hours a day You be the only sheild between that kid and yellowjackets, cans of paint, cleaners, folding doors, and your new lipstick. You should also practice standing with one hip thrown out to the side. What do you do with a three-year old? Prepare for weight gain. You're going to be eating a lot of snack foods. Pretzels, crackers, Cheerios, cookies. Chances are you will also be working with a lot of pastas and sauces. And cheese. Lots of cheese. Cheese cubes, macaroni and cheese. The pasta ans cereal you don't eat prepare to turn into crafts. What do you do with a three-year old? Clean out your purse. You are going to need that extra space for a spare set of clothes, toys, baby wipes, and all those snacks. And make a mental map of every public restroom in the city. What do you do with a three-year old? Answer questions. "God hung the moon" "People get red hair from eating carrots" and "No, not everyone has an outtie; some people have innies." When you are exhausted from answering questions, you can pop in one of those videos where giant vegetables and flowers dance in circlesand sing about their feelings. Pull the shades first, pediatricians frown on such things nowadays. What do you do with a three-year old? Float toys in the tub, dig in the dirt. Open up the pots and pans drawer and pretend it is Captian Hook's treasure chest. Play hide and seek in the living room. Move all the kitchen chairs in a circle, throw a blanket over it and christen it fort dodge. Most of all, you cuddle with a three-year old. Cuddle and admire their dimples, study their lips and marvel at their eyelashes. Then cuddle some more. Hold their sticky hands, wrinkle your nose at their peanut butter breath and rub tiny, tender, petal pink feet. Whisper bedtime prayers, sing lullabies in your best Julie Andrews voice and give lots and lotss of hugs. That is what you do with a three-year old. Then at the end of the day, you collapse into bed and ask yourself why you are so tired when it is only 9 o'clock at night. | |||||||||||||||||||
